The American Cocker Network Review — known to readers simply as the ACN Review — was a specialist magazine for the American Cocker Spaniel community. It circulated on a bi-monthly schedule in both printed and online form, covering the conformation ring, breeders and kennels, litter and stud announcements, and the people who show and handle the breed.
Editorial mission#
The magazine existed to celebrate a single breed well. Rather than spreading across all spaniels or all sporting dogs, it kept a narrow focus on the American Cocker Spaniel so that its coverage — show results, feature dogs, kennel advertising, and community news — stayed relevant to the people who care most about it. That focus is the same principle behind this knowledge base.
Editorial history#
The ACN Review was founded and originally built by Daren Hatfield. Editorship later passed to Kelly Ladouceur of KLAD Cockers, who took on the roles of editor and publisher and continued the magazine on its bi-monthly cadence. Under that stewardship the publication maintained its Facebook presence as "The ACN Review" and its website here at ouracn.com.

What the magazine covered#
- Show coverage — conformation results and features timed around major events, including the breed's National specialty.
- Kennel and stud advertising — full-page, cover, and business-card advertising for breeders, plus stud dog and brood bitch listings.
- Litter and puppy announcements — brag boxes and litter notices for the community.
- Dogs and handlers — profiles and photography celebrating the animals and the people behind them.
Publication rhythm#
The ACN Review published six issues a year. Full advertising rates, submission deadlines, publication dates, and print specifications were maintained on a dedicated information page, archived here for reference.
